Books We’ve Helped Bring to Life

Each project represents a complete start-to finish collaboration with the author.

This business book project was a true collaboration from start to finish. We began by consulting closely with the author to fully understand his vision, goals, and the audience he wanted to reach. Since the manuscript itself did not require editing, our focus was on transforming his content into a polished, professional, and highly user-friendly book experience.

The interior design and formatting required special attention because the book included graphs, illustrations, worksheets, and workbook-style pages that needed to be both visually appealing and easy for readers to use. We carefully designed and formatted the entire interior to create a clean, organized layout that supported the book’s practical, hands-on approach.

We also designed the full cover package and worked extensively with the author on positioning and marketing ideas for the book. Throughout the project, communication was constant and collaborative. In fact, by coincidence, both of us were in Palm Springs, California at the same time during production, giving us the opportunity to meet face-to-face and continue refining the project in person.

This project reflects the kind of partnership we value most: close collaboration, thoughtful design, strong communication, and a shared commitment to helping an author bring a professional-quality book to market.

For this project, I worked closely with the author to produce a book designed for sale through his network of churches, personal contacts, and retail outlets. I handled the interior design using Adobe InDesign and provided full line editing and proofreading.

The author was a gifted Bible teacher with strong content, but the manuscript required careful refinement. I ensured consistency among characters and locations and verified that all Scripture references were complete and accurate. Because the author typed Scripture passages directly into a Word document—often with missing or misspelled words—I cross-checked each passage against the Bible translation he used.

I also hired a professional cover designer in Europe whose expertise was particularly well suited to visually aligning the cover with the story and message of the book.

This project began when an author approached me with a collection of watercolor illustrations and a simple but meaningful goal: to create a book for her grandchildren, friends, and family. She had never published a book before and was unsure where to begin, so I guided her through the process from concept to finished publication.

The original artwork had been created by an artist she knew personally, and one of the first challenges was preparing the watercolor illustrations for professional printing. I helped her convert the artwork into high-quality digital files suitable for book production.

Her writing already had warmth and heart, but we worked together to shape the language so it would connect naturally with younger readers while still appealing to adults. The story centered around Axl, her dog, and reflected themes of kindness, curiosity, and respect for nature—values she especially wanted to pass on to her grandchildren.

By the end of the process, we had developed not only a finished book she was proud of, but also a genuine friendship. Building that kind of supportive relationship with authors is one of the most meaningful parts of this work for me.

A friend approached me with an idea for a book about a farm he had inherited in the Minnesota River Valley. The property—known affectionately as the “Homme Hilton”—had become a gathering place for family and friends over the years, filled with memories of hunting, fishing, berry picking, family traditions, and life along the river valley.

The book included a large number of photographs documenting both the land and the people connected to it, so one of the biggest challenges was organizing the material and matching the right images to the right stories in a way that felt meaningful and cohesive.

When I first reviewed the manuscript, I felt the writing had strong potential but needed further development to reach a professional level. The author was reluctant to do so. After several honest conversations, he agreed to do a substantial rewrite, strengthening the manuscript considerably. Later, he thanked me for encouraging him to push the book to a higher standard.

Projects like this are often created primarily for family and friends, but because the book was carefully written, designed, and presented, the author went on to market it successfully and sold several hundred copies. It became not only a treasured family keepsake, but a polished and professional publication he could genuinely be proud of.

This memoir began after I appeared on the author’s podcast to discuss one of my own books. During a follow-up conversation about mental health and personal struggles, the author shared his experiences living with Bipolar 1 disorder. I encouraged him to write about those experiences, believing there was the foundation for a powerful and meaningful book.

The manuscript went through several major drafts before reaching publication. The author was highly creative and deeply honest in his writing, but the material initially lacked structure and refinement. In the first draft, my role was primarily editorial—helping shape the raw material into a more focused and accessible manuscript while preserving the author’s authentic voice.

The second draft involved substantial revisions by the author, with continued editorial guidance on my part. On the third draft, our chief editor worked closely with both of us to elevate the manuscript through detailed developmental and line editing. Her work transformed the book into a highly polished final manuscript.

The final printing version then went through an extensive proofreading process involving all three of us before publication. I also handled the title setup and publishing preparation. The completed book is now being actively marketed by the author through his own network and outreach efforts.
